We play one of the greatest figures in the history of Christendom and the setting is perfect. The terrors and degradation that great Christian martyres such as Nicolas Eymerich had to edure and cleanse were many and he goes about eradicating festering filth very well. The dialogue is a major plus as we are treated to wrods of wisdom throughout and the voicework is done perfectly as it really gives you a feel for how life was at that time for the church brethren. The plot contains one of the worst heresies of Christendom, Catharism, though this abomination is not dwelled upon for too long. Fortunately, the evilsof Catharism was wiped out after a magnificent siege of their mountain stronghold. While the story, characters and voices are brilliant, some of the controls are sticky as I would have to keep clicking on things a number of times and also there are lots of triggers that open up items to collect, even though you know you will need them earlier, but they can't be collected till needed. I never did understand the chicken and the pulley though.I had to use the cross (auto complete) on some of the puzzles as they were tricky, mainly due to the game mechanisms being not totally user friendly. It was a wonderful experience until the awful ending, which kind of made no sense and just appeared to end really abruptly, with a message about the next installment.I really hope the next chapter comes out soon. The main character was the writer of a magnificent early work that was the forerunner to the great Malleus, that helped to reduce the fetid stench of witchcraft in the Middle Ages.If only we had people in the church today as charasmatic and effective with vile heresy, Islam, the position of women and the filth of the modern world that plagues us constantly. A highly recommended experience.. - it would be better if you didn't have to click on things- the dialogue is waaaaayyyy tooo slowwwww- This is a review. There's a box on my screen to type words into. I'm typing words into the box using my keyboard. etc. What a dark point&click - game. The riddles aren't generally all that hard, however a few activities must be executed in a certain (occasionally mysterious) request, which makes it difficult to finish the game without depending on a walkthrough here and there. Route is fluffy. The movements and characters are so fantastically terrible they're verging on charming. There are such a variety of easter eggs it's enfuriating - pretty much as you think you at long last discovered a pixel that is helpful it's yet another dev group logo or a pointless Monkey Island reference. On the in addition to side, the story is interesting, the verifiable setting is alright, the way they affirm medieval latin sounds sufficiently persuading, and the hero is a touch of an opening without a doubt, which is surely something else. The dialog is the best piece of the game. I'm stating thumbs up, in light of the fact that my internal trendy person is just as befuddled and charmed.. Another game where I wish steam would allow us a rating out of ten, rather than plain good/bad.If this had been a whole game (as opposed to no 1 in a series) I'd be recommending it wholeheartedly. But on finishing the game you will be annoyed to discover that it is chapter 1 in a series of... I'm guessing..... at least 4 games.I have just noticed chapter 2 has been released and so now there is hope that the plot might be completed. So fingers crossed, one day the whole game will be available. At that point I would recommend it. It is a dark, well written, story rich point and click with some complex characters and good puzzle design.I can't recommend it now as lots of us are really annoyed at episodic games that never get finished.. This game is a completely illogical piece of crap that wants you to do things it then wont allow you to actually do.. I freakin loved it. I absolutely love the main character and his grumpy ways. I particularly love how he kills bugs. I thought it was really funny, although I am not sure it was meant to be. It was way too short though. I recommend this game if you have a bit of a dark sense of humor and can laugh at the ridiculous ways of strict old school catholics.
